Meet Amy Meyer

Registered Social Worker

Welcome to my bio, my name is Amy!

I work clinically with children, youth, adults, and families. If you choose to work with me, you can expect to learn strategies to support your mental health and counselling goals while having some fun along the way! I am comfortable working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, stress, family dynamics and other mental health challenges. I see clients and support them while they navigate through life transitions, big and small.

My priority is to get to know you and follow your lead using a client-centred and strength-based perspective. I am a proud ally of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. It is important to me that my clients feel connected and safe while building our therapeutic relationship as we tailor therapy to their needs and goals.

I will use an integrative approach to therapy using principles from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Strength Based Therapy, and both art and play-based modalities.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in both Social Work and Social Development Studies from the University of Waterloo. I also obtained my Master of Social Work degree from University of Waterloo.

If you choose to work with me, you will notice I am passionate about providing a caring, warm, and creative space to promote compassionate early intervention, health and resilience.

A little about me, some of my favourite things to do include being outdoors, baking, journaling, spending time with my family and friends, snuggling with my cat and watching a good movie. I grew up spending much of my time exploring the outdoors and engaging in the arts which is why nature and art both hold value in my life.
