Helping little ones navigate big emotions.
Children’s Counselling (Ages 4-11)
As a parent, it’s heart-wrenching to see your child struggling. You want to help, but sometimes it feels like nothing you say or do is enough.
At Calming Tree Counselling, we specialize in helping children work through their challenges in a safe, nurturing, and playful environment designed just for them.
The goal is simple: to support your child in building resilience, expressing their emotions, and feeling confident in their world—all while giving you the tools to support them every step of the way.
Therapy for Kids: OUR APPROACH
What your child might be facing:
Children can experience many of the same emotional challenges as adults, but often lack the tools to express what they’re feeling. Child counselling can help if your child is struggling with:
Big Emotions
Frequent outbursts, tantrums, or extreme sensitivity.
Anxiety
Fear or worry about school, friendships, or new experiences.
Grief or Loss
Coping with the loss of a loved one or significant change.
Transitions
Adjusting to divorce, a new sibling, or moving to a new home or school.
Social Challenges
Trouble making or keeping friends, bullying, or withdrawal.
Behavioural Concerns
Our behaviour therapists can help with aggression, defiance, or difficulty focusing at home or school.
Signs Your Child Might Benefit from Therapy
It’s not always easy to know when your child needs extra support. Here are a few signs that they might benefit from working with a therapist:
Trouble sleeping or frequent nightmares.
Withdrawal from activities or people they once enjoyed.
Sudden changes in appetite, mood, or behaviour.
Struggling to communicate their feelings.
Difficulty adapting to changes or managing transitions.
Expressing feelings of sadness, worry, or frustration that don’t go away.
How We Help
Our approach to kids’ therapy is compassionate, playful, and evidence-based. Through age-appropriate techniques like play therapy, creative activities, and guided conversations, we create a space where children feel safe to explore their emotions and learn new ways to cope.
For parents, we’re here to guide you as well. We believe that working collaboratively through family therapy creates the best outcomes, and we’ll provide you with tools and strategies to continue supporting your child at home.
What to Expect
A Safe Space: Your child will feel supported, heard, and understood.
Age-Appropriate Tools: From play-based techniques to coping strategies (such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), we use approaches tailored to your child’s age and needs.
Collaborative Support: We work closely with you to ensure progress continues outside of sessions.
Personalized Care: Every child is unique, and their therapy will reflect that.
