Meet Jeff Barber
Registered Social Worker
I offer counselling to children, individuals, couples, and families, supporting clients through a wide range of life challenges and transitions. With more than 25 years of experience, my work focuses on men’s mental health, navigating a new health diagnosis or ongoing medical concerns, relationship and family conflict, grief and loss, and other significant life changes.
My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and client-centred. I work alongside clients to build on existing strengths, develop new skills, and support meaningful improvements in mental health and overall wellbeing. Clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and grounded, and I bring a sense of humour alongside empathy and deep listening to help create genuine connection with both adults and children.
I believe that offering a male perspective in counselling can help reduce barriers for men who may feel hesitant about seeking support. At the same time, providing a safe, respectful, and healthy male presence can be supportive for women and children who may benefit from a positive male influence. Therapy is a shared process, shaped by each client’s needs, goals, and pace.
Clients can expect a compassionate and authentic space where they feel heard and supported in setting goals, embracing growth, and creating meaningful change. Daytime and evening appointments are available.
I am a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. I hold a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Development Studies from the University of Waterloo and a Social Service Worker diploma from Conestoga College.
